New Year, Same Cliche Blog Post

New Year, new me!  It’s that cliché time of year again. I think just about everyone reflects on their past year every January.  We reflect on the good, the bad and the ugly.  We think about the things that we want to do differently.  We paint this image of how we WANT our [new] year to look and boy do we really, really want it.  Do we really, REALLY want it though?  Do we give our all, do we do everything we need to do to get there?  Do we really throw out (all) the sugar, completely detox from social media and put money in the cussing jar?  If we do, how long does it really last?  It seems more and more common for us to set these, what seems at the time, achievable goals to just let them fall flat in front of our face.. every damn year.  We shouldn’t let our off day or off week, hell our off month set the tone for our entire year.  Set the goals, paint the perfect picture, change your approach, just do it knowing that it will be a challenge, it will take effort.  Nothing worth having comes easy – I mean is that not the truth?  I think the trouble some of us have is the desire for this picture perfect life, body, and mind but without all the work it takes to actually get there.  If you take the time to better your health, you will have better health.  If you take time to organize and budget your money, you will spend more wisely and shockingly, you might even save some money!

My focus this year is slightly selfish.  I want to better my health.  I want to eat better and feel better in all aspects of myself.  The end of 2017 something happened to me and I started to feel as though I was dying.  I was weak, tired, emotionless, dizzy and honestly just not there.  I was worried that my son would have to live without me and I would miss out on all stages of him growing up.  I am NOT going to let that happen.  My plan is to better my diet, find out what foods work best for me and my body.  I am going to exercise more, train for another half marathon.  I am going to give my best effort to ONLY think positive.  This year I am going to LIVE.  I am going to live, love and learn.  I am going to grow into the woman, mother, girlfriend, sister, daughter, friend that I am destined to be.  I will have my ups and downs and I am ready for the ride, but I will not give up.  This year, 2018, is going to be beyond GREAT because I am only going to make it such!  Set your goals, make your resolutions’ – if you get off track, if you fall off the wagon, get back on.  We can do this.  One day at a time, you can do this.

Biggest Goals for 2018

  1. No Social Media
  2. Better my Diet
